After writing, I thought that I should be a little more clear on what else our “adventure” is like. The days are fantastic! We are loving the people, the food, the culture, the views and seeing how God is at work here in Guatemala.
Honestly though, the nights have been a little rough. We often hear dogs fighting outside our door with loud barking, there are bugs we have never even seen before and then these HUGE cockroaches that run as fast as a bus. One of the nights we arrived back to the house to have some very shady characters at the door. It was very unnerving for all of us.
We have sang songs, prayed for protection, screamed at bugs and tried to read until exhaustion to help us sleep better.
As much as I like adventure, sometimes it is just tiring. God is bigger than creepy men, annoying bugs and crazy dogs. I am reminded again of Isaiah 41:10 “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my mighty right hand.”
