Island religions

21 Feb

As we continue to see the many examples of religions meshing here in Indonesia, we have taken time to pray and read Jesus’ words. “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but through me.” Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism, and Christianity all play a part of a diverse mix here on this island. It is common to walk past the daily prayers of Muslims; the offerings to Buddha being set out in front of stores; and copious amounts of incense being burnt to the many Hindu gods. It has sparked great discussion in our family about everyone’s search for meaning, purpose and hope. As we have met many locals, we have connected in a personal way. There is no fear of their religion, but a genuine interest in their life. We pray that we can exhibit love and compassion that will make them seek Jesus. (John 14:12-15).
