Mackenzie was The Yada Project’s first intern. She saw the vision before it was very clear. She was truly sent from God to help launch The Yada Project into being more than just a vision, and into a reality.
We have enjoyed following Mackenzie’s journey into Africa for the past 3 years. We have followed her life with Shawn from dating to engagement and look forward to seeing what God is going to do with their next steps after Africa.
We met up with Mackenzie for dinner tonight in the Capitol city of Botswana. She joined right into our family dynamic and our conversations of how to entwine social justice and the Gospel. We saw again her genuine love of people, of God, of her work here with HIV patients and of striving to be more like Jesus in the midst of her life here in Africa.
Mackenzie has the heart to care enough about people to invest her time and energy to make a difference. She also has the spunk to see the bigger picture and change the trajectory of people at risk.
Sometimes you meet people that you know will challenge you to think in new ways. I look forward to seeing how one girl with a heart committed to Jesus and some spunk will impact the Kingdom.
